Organised Crime and Migration
Criminal Groups, Corruption and the Displacement Crisis in Central America and Mexico
Victorie KnoxAuthor
Drawing on original interview material with informants, migrants and refugees, this book considers three interconnected ways in which organised crime shapes migration – as a driver of displacement, a threat to migrants in transit, and a facilitator of people-smuggling. It sheds light on the displacement crisis in Central America and on consequences of implementing migration policy in regions affected by criminal violence and corruption.
